Bentō (jap. 弁当) is a Japanese version of the lunchbox/ packed lunch. Such a box usually contains many small dishes, which are often prepared by the mother or wife. Whether at school, university or in the office; everywhere in Japan you will find bentos. That's why you can find so-called bento shops in many Japanese train stations and department stores, where thousands of variations of decorated and pretty bentos are on offer. Unfortunately, in Germany you will only find a few bento shops where you can get your individual bento box. There are traditional ones like this Amazon Bentobox *Affiliate link , or also really cute boxes *Affiliate link .

What dishes are best suited for your own bento box?

    Very popular:
    Takochan (Octopus Wiener)
    Shiosake (Grilled Salmon)
    Rice
    Nori
    Popular:
    Takuwan (Pickled Radish)
    Yakisoba (Fried Noodles)
    Normal:
    Broccoli
    Meatballs
    Cherry Tomato

I think dishes that contain little water or sauce are best. But the dishes shouldn't be too dry either. It is very important that perishable foods such as fish, meat or eggs are cooked through, otherwise they will quickly become inedible at room temperature. Otherwise, there are basically no limits. There are even special bento boxes in which soup can be stored. However, I don't recommend cheap goods, as there is a risk of the plastic melting or leaks. To give you a little overview of the dishes, I have created a small list. Have fun and enjoy your meal. If you want to complete the list,

10 Bento-Boxes that, in my opinion, look the most beautiful, best or most creative.

This way you have beautiful pictures, a good entertainment and get a little insight into my life. I hope you enjoy this post: 10 beautiful Bento-Boxes with pictures.

    5. Wooden Bento

    Wooden Bento Box

This is my absolute favorite. I love minimalistic and natural design. Wood also has a different feel than plastic. Unfortunately, this also affects the price. Therefore, I will only buy it when I have a full-time job. After all, I'm just a poor apprentice and food blogger.

    8. Guitar Amplifier Bento

    Guitar Amplifier Bento Box

Here, too, I have something to say. I played guitar for about 10 years, today I unfortunately don't have time for it anymore. Actually a pity. But for a child who passionately plays electric guitar, this bento box is definitely suitable.

    9. Forest Animals Fox and Owl Bento

Forest Animals Fox and Owl Bento Box

A simple, but cute design. Unfortunately, I don't know what to say about the box. I prefer to leave the design question to my female audience. But if I had a daughter, this box would be in my shortlist.

    10. Rabbit Flowers Bento

    Rabbit Bento Box

A very typical design for bento boxes. Red and black, with flowers and animals on it. Back when I was still in school and my mother prepared my Luchbox with tasty food, I had a similar box. Also, wrapping fabric around the box is typical. In this version it is a fabric bag, while I often used simple tissues to wrap it up in my childhood.

;) Viel Erfolg Hyun-Jae An Geschäftsführer Bulgogi-Haus
