You shall not play with food! I think everyone knows this saying. But to get it out of the way, it's not about throwing food at each other or wasting it, even when it comes to recycling food, the Japanese are very creative. Here it's more about how delicious and visually appealing food can be prepared with fun and little gimmicks.

The most popular dishes for cute and creative dishes are Bentos (lunchboxes from Japan) or Onigiri (rice balls usually wrapped in a Nori leaf). Whole landscapes or cool comic figures can be made from them. Good side effect, the children love this kind of preparation.

I'm not going to beat around the bush and present you with my favorite Pinterest Pins on the topic of "You don't play with food, but we Japanese do!" J

I hope you have fun with this post.

    Panda Onigiris:

Panda Onigiri are a classic in Japanese creative cuisine. With a little effort and a lot of fun, even a layman can make the Onigiri with the Panda faces! So have fun :)

Of course there are no limits, whether it's the latest anime characters or the new Harry Potter movie, you can create Onigiri for any imaginable theme.

    Theme-specific Bento:

Here I have created a pinboard with over 140 pins for you. Because there are sooooo many Bentos with animals, anime series or even just landscapes. The sky is the limit! I always find it very remarkable how much effort some people put into a Bento.

Be creative and surprise your child or friend and cook them a nice Bento with delicious dishes. I'm sure the classmates/ colleagues will be very envious of the Bento.

    Modern Japanese Breakfast:

In Japan, dinner is sacred, as it is usually traditional and should not be touched. But the modern Japanese breakfast is very creative, varied and adapted to the Western world. Therefore, gimmicks are allowed here, whether it's the fried egg that looks like a sun or lettuce leaves shaped like trees or bushes. The cute and lovely preparation method should encourage children to eat a hearty meal in the morning.

    Dessert:

Dessert is also a popular dish that is decorated and served creatively. This is probably also due to the fact that dessert is usually very attractive to children. You can feel this trend most strongly in restaurants, because customer loyalty and customer satisfaction are naturally at the top of the list.
