The preparation:

  1. First, warm the Shirataki noodles in water for 1-2 minutes. For other brands, you should boil the Shirataki noodles for 2 to 3 minutes first, as they have a rather unusual and for some people unpleasant smell.

  2. In a separate pot, cook the chopped chicken breast for 5 minutes with the spring onions in water.

    Ingredients
  3. While cooking, cut the cucumber into strips and halve the small cherry tomatoes.

  4. Mix the spicy sauce. To do this, combine sesame seeds, rice vinegar, soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, salt, pepper and dashi (vegetable broth is also an alternative) in a small bowl.

  5. Then serve the Shirataki noodles on a plate, top with the cooked chicken breast and vegetables and pour the spicy sauce on top. Take a photo, mix everything together and enjoy the almost zero calorie noodles. YamYam

The product was sent to us free of charge by the manufacturer Kajnok* . Kajnok, recently known from the TV show "Die Höhle der Löwen" (DHDL), specializes in zero-calorie noodles based on the natural product konjac. We are not presenting this product exclusively positively in this article. We are including our honest positive as well as negative opinions.

Zero-calorie noodles? Exactly, the secret of these noodles lies in the konjac root, which originates from the Asian plant "Devil's Tongue".

    The Konjac Root

Konjac (also known as Shirataki) is widely consumed in East Asian cuisine. Especially in Japanese and Chinese cuisine, the products of the Devil's Tongue are used for delicious dishes. Due to the well-known, especially for the weight loss industry, usable properties, a real konjac trend has developed in Western countries.
Because, konjac products* are ideal for diets and healthy eating plans. The products based purely on plant origin can score both through the low calorie count and the absence of carbohydrates. Shirataki products (especially noodles and rice) consist largely of water and pure konjac flour. Some manufacturers add a few additions from manufacturer to manufacturer. Always check the ingredient list of the product to make sure you are getting genuine goods. One manufacturer kindly sent us some of its products, which we don't want to withhold from you.

    Shirataki Noodles from Kajnok

    kajnok-sorten

We received some Shirataki products from the manufacturer "Kajnok", which we would like to introduce to you with delicious Japanese recipes. But first, we want to tell you how the first impression of these Shirataki products compares to other manufacturers.

The special features according to the manufacturer Kajnok

Kajnok wants to stand out from the competition with a few points. We have listed the most important theses for you and evaluated them based on our experience.

Kajnok is suitable as a diet food

We can confirm that all Shirataki products can be used for a diet. Due to the high proportion of water, these products have almost no carbohydrates, fat or calories.  Here, Kajnok does not stand out from the competition, as all Shirtaki products have almost identical nutritional values.

    Tasteless and odorless

Kajnok* advertises that their products have no own taste and are odorless. We can confirm this statement. other Shirataki products, especially have a very strong own smell. The smell can be perceived as unpleasant and not appetizing .  Such a smell can be removed by boiling Shirataki Prdoukte in a water bath with 1 tbsp vinegar for 5 minutes. This is not the case with the Kajnok products we tested, these can be eaten directly (after 2 minutes).
We also agree on the point of taste neutrality. However, other manufacturers also have this property, as Shirataki products consist largely of water and have been shaped with a small proportion of konjac flour. Shirataki dishes then get their taste from sauces or other ingredients.

    Ready to eat

The packaging of the Kajnok products advertises a very short preparation time. The noodles can be eaten within 2 minutes. Depending on your taste, they should be warmed up beforehand. In any case, you should rinse every Shirataki product beforehand.

    Kajnok makes you feel full

Another point is, so they say, that the Kajnok products make you feel full. In the end, this depends on the manufacturer's and the consumer's exact definition of how many packs a person has to eat for a full stomach.  We probably represent the person who can eat a lot here. Therefore, a simple pack of noodles was not enough for a full stomach. However, it must be taken into account that the ingredient of the konjac root, glucomannan, absorbs liquid strongly and thus swells up and increases in volume. This subsequently leads to a long-lasting feeling of fullness in the person.

    Our Conclusion

It is true that the Kajnok products are of very high quality. We can also confirm the advertising messages. It must be taken into account that Shirataki products in general have hardly any calories, sugar, fats and carbohydrates, are based on plants and make you feel full in the long term. Kajnok, on the other hand, stands out in that the products are largely odorless and of a slightly higher quality than other manufacturers. In addition, the products are . However, the price also plays a role here, as the Kajnok products are slightly more expensive compared to other brands. But if you are looking for a reliable good quality and are willing to pay a little more, then you are on the safe side with Kajnok.

    Pro for the Kajnok products
    • High quality, i.e. no additives and controlled organic cultivation
    • Odorless
    • Edible within a short time
    Cons for the Kajnok products
    • Relatively expensive price
