Do you always cook the same, well-known German dishes? Then it's high time to bring a fresh breeze to your cooking habits: for example, with our delicious Japanese and Korean recipes. We have recreated a wide selection of specialties from Japan and Korea for you and written detailed instructions. Feel free to venture into unknown dishes - many of them are very easy to prepare!

What Japanese and Korean recipes can you find with us?

On our blog, we try to collect as many different recipes as possible. This means that you will find many different cooking instructions from elaborate, labor-intensive specialties to quick sauces and dressings to authentic desserts. From a Korea cooking week, where you cook exclusively Korean from breakfast to lunch to dinner, to a simple Japanese soup for the occasional cook, you will find recipe ideas and inspiration with us.

How difficult is it to cook Korean and Japanese food?

That depends entirely on the dish! Many dishes require special kitchen utensils or cooking techniques - but we go to great lengths to describe them in detail. For many recipes, you will also find a handy video that illustrates the cooking process. We also give you helpful tips on where to find authentic Asian and Korean ingredients in Germany - either in Asian stores or online. Wherever possible, we also recommend German standard foods that you can use to replace Asian ingredients. Because cooking Japanese and Korean food doesn't have to be complicated!

Which dishes are suitable for getting started with Japanese and Korean cuisine?

For example, we can recommend Japanese Donburis ; these are recipes served in a single bowl. They consist of fluffy, Japanese rice with various, delicious toppings. Particularly good are, for example, the chicken-egg bowl Oyakodon or the classic beef bowl Gyudon . A Korean alternative is delicious Kimchi rice with the typical spicy pickled Korean Chinese cabbage Kimchi . Even when Japanese and Western cuisine meet, delicious dishes are created; for example Omuraisu , a Japanese-prepared omelette with rice.

I like meat dishes. What can you recommend?

Meat is often eaten in Japan and Korea. It is often seared sharply and leanly and refined with onions, chili and possibly vegetables. Add a delicious, flavorful sweet and spicy sauce and you're done with the ultimate dining experience! Cook some Bulgogi (spicy Korean fire meat), or Jokbal - the Korean ham hock.

    What about vegetable side dishes?

Here too, there is a wide selection in both Japanese and Korean cuisine. We can recommend, for example, Pak-Choi salad or grilled eggplant - or Gaji Jeon - recommend. Also Kyurino no Sunomono , a Japanese cucumber salad, is as delicious as it is healthy.

    Which dishes are particularly unusual?

In Germany, tofu is mostly reserved for vegetarians. In Japan, Mapo Tofu but refined with minced meat - unusual and delicious. Or how about a Japanese "pizza": Okonomiyaki Hiroshima Style ? We can also recommend the Korean chive pancakes Buchu Jeon . You want sushi but without fish? Then the meat sushi Niku Maki is the right choice for you.

What Japanese and Korean desserts are there?

Try Korean stuffed waffle fish - Bungeoppang called - or the refreshing Japanese milk dessert Kanten. You can make this, for example, with Mandarins or with Peach prepare.
